In May this year, Zhongshan's Consumer Price Index (CPI) rose by 1.9% year-on-year, the same as the previous month; and down 0.1% month-on-month, with a difference of 0.3 percentage points from the previous month.
Food prices dropped by 0.4% while non-food prices rose by 2.4%. Consumer and service prices went up by 2.4% and 0.9% respectively.
Food, tobacco and alcohol prices rose by 0.1%. Fresh fruit prices rose by 6.8%; fresh vegetable prices went up by 6.3%; and livestock meat prices dropped by 17.1%, resulting in a 0.58% decrease in CPI.
The prices of other seven categories all saw year-on-year growth. The prices of transportation and communication, education, culture and entertainment, and medical care rose by 6.2%, 1.4%, and 0.3% respectively.
In May, Zhongshan's CPI fell by 0.1% month-on-month. Food prices dropped by 0.6% while non-food prices increased by 0.1%; and consumer prices remained unchanged from those of the previous month, while the price of services dropped by 0.1%.
From January to May, Zhongshan's CPI has increased by 1.6% over the same period of last year.
