According to the data recently released by the traffic police department, by the end of October this year, there have been 586 motorcycle-related traffic accidents in Zhongshan. Even worse, these accidents have killed 84 and injured 596 people. In addition, there were 366 e-bike related traffic accidents, which killed 45 and injured 379 people.

Therefore, the Zhongshan traffic police have launched a centralized renovation on those who violate motorcycle and electric bicycle traffic laws from April 1. The campaign will be cracking down on serious traffic violations, such as motorcycle drivers not having licenses or permits, riders not wearing helmets, motorcycle and electric bicycle overcrowding, riding in the wrong lanes, running red lights, and riding against traffic. A total of 53,934 cases involving e-bikes were investigated and treated. According to the traffic police, the centralized renovation will continue until December.

By November 1, some 8,134 electric bicycles have been registered in Zhongshan.

At present, 18 electric bicycle registration stations have been set up in Zhongshan. The next step for the traffic police will be to establish more electric bicycle registration stations.
