"Pujiang Shize": the Oldest Arch in Zhongshan

With history of 327 years, the Pujiang Shize arch is the oldest one in Zhongshan. At present, an appraisal group has appraised three cultural relics in the Torch Development Zone, including the Pujiang Shize Arch.

Built in the Ming Dynasty, this nine-meter tall arch is made of granite, and characterized by fine workmanship demonstrated in the excellent match of stones. Despite two renovations respectively in the reign of the Yongzheng Emperor and in 1992, it has all the original style and flavor.

Another two relics constitute the Qingyun Bridge in Haotou and the Batteries on Mt. Sanxian’niang. The former was built in 1909 and has been the best preserved bridge in this district, while the latter was set up in 1854, covering an area of 120 square meters.
