After more than a year of construction, the Nantou-Huangpu section of the Nantou-Sanjiao Highway, or Nansan Highway, opened its main line to traffic on October 20, reducing the driving time between central areas of Nantou Town and Huangpu Town from half an hour to only 10 minutes.

The newly-opened six-lane main line includes the Guangming Road tunnel, the Dongfu Road overpass (which opened to traffic in August), the Huangpu viaduct, the northern side of Xinsha Bridge (two-way traffic on the same side), the Aoxin Road overpass, the Dongfu Highway overpass, and other important facilities.

The southern side of Xinsha Bridge is currently under construction and is scheduled to open to traffic by June 2024.
