Introduction of Lecturer: 

Yuan Qingfeng graduated from East China Normal University in 1993 and received the degree of Doctor of Literature. He was a visiting scholar in Peking University from 1996 to 1998 and from 2000 to 2002. He is now a professor in Communication University of China (once called Beijing Broadcasting Institute), and a Ph.D. adviser of film studies. 

Lecture Preview:

The movie industry has reached a flourishing period since the People’s Republic of China was founded in 1949. The period from 1949 to 1965 was called the 17-Year Prosperity in the history of literature and art. A large number of popular movies were produced, including those revolutionary classical movies that had a profound and lasting influence on both Chinese society and people. This lecture will help audience to review those unforgettable pictures left in the depth of emotion and memory, and probe into the ideological resources giving rise to its production and influence, as well as the expression means and social effect of art.
