Since re-establishing ties with the Zhongshan martial arts community in 1979, Poon Chung Kwan, 76, has devoted decades to mentoring the members of the Zhongshan Lo Leong Lion Dance Martial Arts Team.

"Lo Leong" is a name derived from the surnames of its founders, Luo Yuesheng and Liang Guorong, and has been passed down for over a century. As early as the 1940s, following his master's instructions, Poon Chung Kwan's father, Poon Shu Sum, established the "Zhongshan Lo Leong Athletic and Martial Arts School." Since then, the Lo Leong Lion Dance, a symbol of tradition, has been passed down through five generations.

Headquartered in Macao, Lo Leong Athletic Association has expanded to multiple locations within the Greater Bay Area, as well as to international destinations such as Portugal, Malaysia and Venezuela. In Macao, the "Lo Leong Lion Dance" has participated in cultural performances celebrating Macao's return to China. Meanwhile, in Zhongshan, both the Lo Leong lion dance and its martial arts have been recognized as part of the city's intangible cultural heritage and are frequently featured in the Zhongshan Charity Parade.
