Public transportation is a key area of energy conservation and carbon reduction policies, so it is of great importance to encourage and create low-carbon transportation modes. Zhongshan has converted 100% of its buses to run on electricity, becoming the first prefecture-level city in China to achieve this, effectively cutting the carbon footprint of the public transportation system.
In the early stages, in order to facilitate bus electrification, Zhongshan Public Transportation Group improved its infrastructure layout and built 20 charging stations and 291 charging stands across Zhongshan to meet the charging demands of the current 2,296 buses.
"Pure electric buses reduce operating costs and achieve zero emissions," said a spokesperson of Zhongshan Public Transportation Group, adding that for Zhongshan citizens, this means a cleaner and fresher travel environment, and zero pollution and zero emissions will bring us a more comfortable city appearance.
