Zhongshan is listed in key control areas of air quality during 2010 Asian Games, and Zhongshan Municipal People’s Government Office has issued the Zhongshan Air Quality Control Plan during 2010 Asian Games recently to ensure clear air and blue sky and create a better environment for Asian Games.
According to the plan, air pollution control of Zhongshan focuses on pollution control of thermal power plants, industrial pollution sources, road pollution sources, dust pollution sources, VOC pollution, and pollution in catering service. The townships and departments should adjust power energy structure actively, introduce quality clean energy, and reduce emission of pollutants of thermal power plants. 685 coal-fired boilers with evaporation amount of or below 4 tons per hour and 77 boilers which have been put into use for more than 8 years and with the evaporation amount below 10 tons per hour will be eliminated before Sept. 30th. Favorable conditions should be created for enterprises to implement central heating or use clean energy. Coal-fired boilers with the evaporation amount below 1 ton per hour are encouraged to be changed into electrical boilers.
