The Ministry of Ecology and Environment announced the ambient air quality report for the first 9 months this year. Among the 168 key cities nationwide, Zhongshan ranked 12th in air quality and ranked 6th in low PM2.5 concentration.

Data show that Zhongshan has made improvement in air quality during the January-September period, compared with the same period in 2023. The AQI (Air Quaility Index) compliance rate is 94.2%, an increase of 3.7 percentage points over last year, ranking third province-wide in terms of improvement. The AQI is 2.58, ranking fourth in the Pearl River Delta region.

From January to August this year, Zhongshan's CWQI (Comprehensive Water Quality Index) stood at 3.7187, ranking 13th province-wide.
