August 15 marked China's first National Ecology Day. A short video with the title "Zhongshan Building a Net-zero Carbon City", was reposted by Green China operated by China Daily on X (Twitter) and Facebook on the day to showcase Zhongshan's practices in building a green and beautiful city.
Released in June this year, the video has been reposted by many central and provincial media, including Xinhua and Guangdong's overseas social media. The 5-minute-19-second video was produced by the Zhongshan Bureau of Ecology and Environment and made by the Zhongshan International Communication Center of Zhongshan Daily. In the video, Selma, a foreign friend from Bosnia and Herzegovina, visits some tourist attractions along the Zhongshan ecological research route and learned about Zhongshan's practical cases lowering carbon emissions.
Since 2017 being awarded the title of pilot low-carbon city of China, Zhongshan has built multiple green and low-carbon science education bases. On June 5, 2023, also the 52nd World Environment Day, the Zhongshan Bureau of Ecology and Environment launched the first ecological research route, which connects the Guangdong Zhongshan Cuiheng National Wetland Park, Qixi Village in Wuguishan District, the South Zhongshan waste disposal base, as well as the T·PARK in Xiaolan's Xinshi Community and Fuxing New Village in Xiaolan's Beiqu Community.
