The project to make a green lighting demonstration city out of Zhongshan was launched last year. The first phase construction of the 200 million-yuan-investment project in the following three years was started in the major roads and squares in Xiaolan Town and Guzhen Town. So far the “green-lighting” roads has extended to 150 km and involved 10000 street and landscape lamps.
The green lighting project not only works hard to quicken up the pace of constructing demonstration roads and energy-saving service center, promoting the integration of LED industry and financial industry, but also steps up efforts on research. Just last year alone, lighting industry achieved an output value of 65 billion yuan, accounting for 15% of the city’s total industrial output value. Now Zhongshan has clustered 9300 lighting and accessory companies, including 32 leading enterprises, and 158000 practitioners involved. Zhongshan has long been boasting of the reputation of China’s Lighting Capital. Of the top 10 lighting brands in China, 7 come from Zhongshan.
