Dongfeng town has been strengthening development of tertiary industry this year, planning to invest 3 billion yuan in Xinsha Island project to build it into a business & leisure name card in Dongfeng and even in Zhongshan. Yesterday afternoon, Mayor Chen Maohui inspected the project.

In the first eight months of this year, Dongfeng Town realized GRP of 7,768 million yuan, up by 21.1%; its industrial output value of scale enterprises grossed 21,435 million yuan, up by 20.49%; investment in fixed assets hit 2,491 million yuan, up by 30%; national and local tax revenue amounted to 938 million yuan, up by 24.41%; general budget revenue arrived at 349 million yuan, up by 34% compared with that of last year.

While building its central area, Dongfeng town plans to invest 3 billion yuan to develop business and leisure tourist projects in Xinsha Island to promote modern service industry in Dongfeng. Xinsha Island situated in Dongfeng Section, Jiyashui Road covers an area of 67 hectare. A 25-floor five-star restaurant, together with supporting facilities such as yacht port, commercial center, catering service will be built to create a quality residence community and leisure zone integrating holiday resort, tourist destination, and recreational places.
