In 2011, Zhongshan’s export and import value hit a record high, totaling $34.2 billion, up 6.4% over the same period of last year. Export value amounted to $25.4 billion, up 9.1% and import value $9.66 billion, up 12.2%, realizing a trade surplus of $14.88 billion.
Hong Kong remains to be Zhongshan’s largest trading partner and in 2011 alone, the trade volume reached $7.77 billion, up 1.4%. The trade volume with America was $5.74 billion, up 4.9% and with European Union, $4.81 billion, up 20.5%. ASEAN and Japan ranked next.
