Su Bingtian honored in annual Touching China awards

Su Bingtian, "China's Flying Man", who broke the Asian record in the men's 100m at the Tokyo Olympic Games and reached the men's 100m finals with a historic time, was honored as inspirational role models in this year's Touching China awards announced by China Central Television on the evening of March 3.


The award speech for Su Bingtian from the organizing committee mentioned: "The world holding its breath when, in 9.83 seconds, you broke the Asian record. In spite of your past injuries and age, you surpassed yourself, and you are always backed by your strong motherland!"


2021 was a year worth remembering for Su Bingtian. He broke the Asian record in 9.83 seconds at the Tokyo Olympic Games, becoming the first Chinese athlete to compete in the men's 100m final at the Olympic Games.


This year's recipients of the awards also include Peng Shilu, Yang Zhenning, Gu Songfen, Wu Tianyi, Zhu Yanfu, China's space community, Janis Chan, the Zhang Shundong and Li Guoxiu couple, and Jiang Mengnan.
